My experience in using Blogger was not entirely new because I had previously taken a class where I had to utilize it for the same purpose. In fact, when I clicked on the Blogger Getting Started guide, I was redirected to my last blog from that previous class. All l needed to do was to begin a new draft and I started from there. However, I did have a hard time accurately transferring the information I wrote on Microsoft word into Blogger as there seems to be a text editing discrepancy between the two platforms. I noticed that the editing options on Blogger are limited compared to that of Word. However after fiddling with some editing tricks, I was able to tweak the blog to an acceptable manner. Also, adding the RSS feeds was a bit challenging because I added them in the Layout view, but couldn't see them on the blog when I published it. I had to go back to my old blogs from my previous class to see what I was doing wrong. I realized that I had to change the theme of my blog if I wanted to RSS feed links to show. I did this, and I was then able to see my feed links at the bottom of the page.
As an educator, I can utilize blogs in my classroom as a way to communicate with parents and guardians because it can serve as a centralized location for information, updates, resources, assignments, as well as due dates. It can also serve as a discussion forum where parents, guardians, and caretakers, can post questions, concerns, and answers.

Welcome!
Welcome to the new school year! This year we are focusing on incorporating technology into the classroom by utilizing a classroom blog. The goal for this blog is for you to stay up to date with what is happening in our class so that you can be involved with your child's progress as they learn and grow. You will have access to the blog at any time and will be able to comment any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child or their assignments. We understand schedules can be complex, and that is why we believe having a classroom blog will help you stay connected with your child and classroom happenings. Attached to the right of the blog are resourceful links that will assist you in following along with our emphasis on incorporating technology in the classrooms. Also, please note that there are RSS feeds available at the bottom of the page for your reference, as well as fun printout activities to try with your little one.
I look forward to an exciting, fun-filled year!
